Haukland Beach offers a striking contrast between Arctic mountains and tropical-looking water. The white sand and turquoise tones create a calm and inviting foreground, while the surrounding peaks add depth and scale.
The openness of the landscape allows for clean compositions, making it ideal for both wide-angle photography and minimalist approaches. A small tidal lagoon on the right side of the beach creates excellent reflection compositions when conditions are calm.
Turquoise water, white sand and green mountains, with a lesser-known tidal lagoon for reflections.

Anywhere along the beach works. The small lagoon at the right end of the beach is particularly strong for reflections. For sunrise or sunset, do not limit yourself to the sand: move around the bay and use the mountains to frame the beach.
Shoot towards the mountains from the shoreline for the classic Haukland composition, and look for reflections in the wet sand after the tide moves out.

At the right end of the beach. A lesser-known reflection spot; check tide times to catch it at its fullest.
From Mannen, use the beach as a strong foreground shape and the mountains beyond it.

Excellent for photographs with leading lines, especially where the road curves around Veggen.
Soft light is ideal for Haukland. Cloudy or lightly overcast conditions can bring out the turquoise water, white sand and green mountains without harsh contrast. Early morning gives quieter conditions and softer light. In summer, the long daylight hours allow you to photograph the beach well into the evening, while autumn and winter can bring dramatic skies and lower, more directional light.

Haukland Beach has a renovated parking area with space for around 100 cars, including accessible parking, motorhome spaces and bus parking. Parking costs 20 NOK per hour, with the first 20 minutes free. Payment must be made immediately after parking via EasyPark, the parking meter or inside the café. The maximum parking time is 16 hours.
The beach can get particularly busy during summer, especially between 1 PM and 3 PM, so arriving early or later in the day is recommended.
The Haukland Beach Café is located right by the beach and serves coffee, smoothies, homemade lunches and pastries. It is a convenient stop before or after exploring the area, especially if you are planning a hike or spending time at the beach.
The visitor centre also offers kayaking and guided or independent activities, while the nearby Mannen and Himmeltinden trails provide excellent viewpoints over Haukland and the surrounding coastline.
